SIR ANDREW LIKIERMAN
Dean of the London Business School
Professor Sir Andrew Likierman is Dean of the London Business School. He is also non-executive Chairman of the National Audit Office and a non-executive Director of Barclays Bank plc.
Andrew was Founding Director of the Executive MBA programme and has been a Professor at the School for many years, lecturing on all the major executive and degree programmes. His research interests have been in the field of the measurement of performance.
In the course of his career, Andrew has run a textile plant in Germany, been Head of the Government Accountancy Service and was a Managing Director of the UK Treasury. His previous non-executive posts have included being Chairman of the Economists' Bookshop Group and of the market research firm MORI. He has also been a non-executive Director of the Bank of England and he is a Past President of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

TAN SRI DR. MUNIR MAJID
Chairman of Malaysia Airlines and Visiting Senior Fellow of LSE IDEAS, London School of Economics
Tan Sri Dr. Munir Majid is the chairman of Malaysia Airlines and Bank Muamalat. Dr. Majid obtained a B.Sc (Econ) and his Ph.D in International Relations from the London School of Economic and Political Science (LSE). He taught in the Department of International Relations at the LSE from 1972-75. He worked for Daiwa Europe in the City from 1975-78.
He was Group Editor of the New Straits Times (NST) in Malaysia, Executive Chairman of CIMB, now Southeast Asia's leading investment bank and founder Executive Chairman of the Malaysian Securities Commission where he served from 1993-99. He wrote a regular column for the NST from 2001-04 and now for the Edge, Malaysia's leading business weekly, covering mainly contemporary economic and political issues. He was made an Honorary Fellow of the LSE in 2005.

GEORGE MAGNUS
Senior Economic Advisor, UBS Investment Bank
George Magnus is a Managing Director and the Senior Economic Advisor of UBS Investment Bank, a position to which he was appointed in 2004, following a seven-year spell as the Chief Economist. He is the author of The Age of Ageing - how demographics are changing the global economy and our world (John Wiley & Sons), and Uprising: will emerging markets shape or shake the world?
Mr. Magnus's previous positions include Chief International Economist at UBS before the merger with Swiss Bank Corp, head of fixed income research and then Chief Economist at SG Warburg (1987-95), Chief International Economist at Chase Securities (1985-87, previously Laurie Milbank), Senior Financial Economist and then Head of Economics (EMEA region) at Bank of America (1977-85), European Economist at Lloyds Bank International (1974-77) and Economics Writer at the Central Office of Information (1972-74). Mr. Magnus received an MSc Econ from the School of Oriental and African Studies, and taught Economics at both the Central London Polytechnic (now University of Westminster) and the University of Illinois, where he was engaged in research on employment creation issues in less developed countries at the Institute of Labour and Industrial Relations
KAREN WARD
Senior Global Economist, HSBC
Karen joined HSBC in 2006 as UK economist. In 2010 she was appointed Senior Global Economist with responsibility for monitoring challenges facing the global economy and their implications for financial markets. Before joining HSBC in 2006 Karen worked at the Bank of England where she provided supporting analysis for the Monetary Policy Committee. She has an MSc Economics from University College London
PROF. DANNY QUAH
Professor of Economics, London School of Economics
Danny Quah is Professor of Economics at the LSE. Born in Penang, he obtained his Ph.D from Harvard University and his A.B. from Princeton University. He joined LSE in 1991 after having taught as an assistant professor in MIT's Economics Department. In the UK, he has served on the Academic Panels of H.M. Treasury and the Office for National Statistics, and is currently Co-Director of LSE Global Governance and Research Director of INET@LSE. He contributes regularly to the news media in London, Malaysia, and elsewhere; some of his writings on the weightless economy have been translated into 18 different languages.
Danny Quah is a Council Member on Malaysia's National Economic Advisory Council and Tan Chin Tuan Visiting Professor in the Economics Department at the National University of Singapore.
JENS LARSEN
Chief European Economist, RBC Capital Markets
Jens Larsen joined RBC Capital Markets in September 2010 as Chief European Economist, based in London. Prior to joining RBC, Jens worked 12 years at the Bank of England, most recently as Head of the Macro Financial Analysis Division, providing financial market analysis to the Monetary Policy Committee, and previously as Private Secretary for Rachel Lomax, then Deputy Governor for monetary policy. From 2006 to 2008, Jens was Alternate Executive Director on the International Monetary Fund's Executive Board, representing the UK. At RBC Capital Markets, Jens leads the European Economics team, providing macro economic analysis on Europe.

Tim Jackson is Principal Lecturer at the London College of Fashion, UK, and Chair of their Fashion
Management Group. He is a member of the editorial panel of The Journal of Fashion Marketing and
Management and regularly comments on fashion business issues in the media. He has experience of
working in retail management, buying and merchandising for a number of companies including Jaeger.
MIMI TANG
CEO, PPR Luxury Group Asia Pacific
Mimi Tang is Chief Executive Officer of Asia Pacific region for PPR Luxury Group, the world's third-largest luxury group.
Ms Tang began her career at DFS and worked in various positions including Regional Buyer. Bringing 5 years of retail operations experience and 10 years of deep knowledge in merchandising, she joined Joyce as General Manager in 1985 taking charge of Merchandising and Operations in Hong Kong and South-east Asia where she cultivated her belief that merchandising is the soul of retail. In 1996, she became Executive Vice President at HPL-21 Limited, building up an entire retail infrastructure for Donna Karen, DKNY and Armani Exchange brands in Hong Kong and North Asia.
Ms Tang joined Gucci Group in 1998 as Managing Director for Hong Kong and China. She became the Regional Managing Director for Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) in 1999 and was appointed President of Gucci Group Asia Pacific in 2000. In 2006, she was named Chief Executive Officer of Gucci Group Asia Pacific. Through the years, Ms Tang has expanded her responsibility from managing a single brand in one country, to managing multiple brands in 14 countries with more than 3500 employees under her leadership today.
JOSEPH WAN
CEO, Harvey Nichols
Joseph qualified as a chartered accountant in 1978 and as a chartered arbitrator in 2002 whilst he was the CEO of Harvey Nichols.
After qualifying, as a Chartered Accountant, he worked for KPMG in Hong Kong (1978-1987), spending a year at their London office. In 1987 he moved into industry, working as the group finance director for Dickson Concepts International Limited, a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange which distributes luxury goods in the Far East.
Joseph has been CEO of the Harvey Nichols group in the UK since 1992. Harvey Nichols was listed on the London Stock Exchange between 1996 and 2003, when it went back into private ownership.
Currently, he also serves as the non-executive Chairman of ST Dupont SA which is listed on the Paris Bourse.

CEO, E-luxury Brands Distribution
Shanghai-based entrepreneur Aline Conus has over seven years' experience in e-commerce and luxury goods distribution in China. Four years ago, Aline launched E-Luxury Brands, with the ambition of shaping the future of luxury retailing in China by creating the largest platform dedicated to selling international luxury goods to the country's internet users. A native of France's Jura region, Aline was educated at Sciences-Po Bordeaux, Colombia University in New York and the London School of Economics. She is currently working on a memoir of her experiences - Mademoiselle China - to be published by deCoubertin Books in 2011.

TAN SRI DATO' AZMAN HJ. MOKHTAR
Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah)
Tan Sri Dato' Azman is the Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah), the strategic investment arm of the Government of Malaysia. Prior to his appointment in June 2004, he was the Managing Director and co-founder of BinaFikir Sdn Bhd, a financial consultancy, the Director, Head of Country Research, Salomon Smith Barney Malaysia and the Director, Head of Research, Union Bank of Switzerland in Malaysia. Before that, he held various positions in the then National Electricity Board (LLN) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
Tan Sri Dato' Azman is the Chairman of Iskandar Investment Berhad, Axiata Group Berhad and Valuecap Sdn Bhd and holds various board memberships including UEM Group Berhad, Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), Yayasan Khazanah, Jadwa Investment of Saudi Arabia and Fajr Capital Ltd headquartered in Dubai. He serves on various public service bodies including the Performance Management & Delivery Unit (PEMANDU), the Advisory Board for Cluster of Excellence Schools, the Board of Governors of the Malay College Kuala Kangsar, Yayasan Khazanah and the Executive Committee of Malaysia International Islamic Financial Centre (MIFC). He is also a member of the Board of the Trustees of Asia Business Council, the INSEAD East Asia Council and the Global Agenda Council for 2011 of the World Economic Forum on the role of business.
He obtained his M.Phil in Development Studies from Darwin College, Cambridge University, is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Islamic Studies from the International Islamic University, Malaysia.
PROF. FLORIN VASVARI
Assistant Professor of Accounting at London Business School
Florin Vasvari is an Assistant Professor at London Business School. Prof. Vasvari teaches executive programs and the Private Equity and Venture Capital elective at London Business School. His research has been published in the Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Accounting Organizations and Society and others. He has recently co-authored a book, entitled International Private Equity, published by John Wiley and Sons.
Prof. Vasvari consults on Private Equity related issues and is frequently invited to deliver presentations on his research. He has presented at University of Chicago, Harvard University, Wharton School, MIT, Duke University, UCLA, Northwestern University, New York University, Columbia University, INSEAD, among others.
Prof. Vasvari holds an MA in Economics from the Department of Economics at University of Toronto and a PhD in Accounting (with minors in Finance and Econometrics) from Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
SANDIAGA UNO
Managing Director, Saratoga Capital
Sandiaga was born in Rumbai, Pekanbaru, Province of Riau, Indonesia on June 28th, 1969. Sandiaga is the founding partner and CEO of Saratoga Capital, a private equity firm he co-founded with Edwin Soeryadjaya in 1998. Saratoga Capital focuses its investments in natural resources and infrastructure in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. He currently holds key positions among others at PT. Adaro Energy Tbk, one of the largest integrated coal companies in Indonesia and PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Group, one of the largest independent telecommunication tower providers. He also co-founded a boutique investment firm, PT Recapital Advisors in 1997 together with his high school friend, Rosan Roeslani.
Sandiaga is a member of the National Economic Committee (KEN) appointed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono since June 2010. In January 2011, he was appointed as the General Treasurer of the Indonesian Association of Muslim Intellectuals (ICMI), a moderate Islamic Think Tank.
From 2004 to 2010, Sandiaga led the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives division of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). Sandiaga is also a former Chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) from 2005-2008.
Sandiaga graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Wichita State University in 1990 and obtained a Masters of Business Administration from George Washington University in 1992.
He was awarded the Indonesian Entrepreneur of the Year by Enterprise Asia in 2008. Sandiaga is Asia Society's Asia 21 fellow, class of 2008.
His hobby is basketball. In 2004, he was appointed as the Team Manager for the Indonesian Women's Basketball Team for the 2005 SEA Games in Manila, Philippines. Sandiaga is married to Nur Asia and has two daughters, Anneesha Atheera (13) and Amyra Atheefa (11).
ANUBHA SHRIVASTAVA
Managing Director, Asia, CDC Group
Anubha Shrivastava is a Managing Director at CDC Group plc, a fund of funds business owned by the British Government that invests in the developing economies of Africa, Asia and Latin America. She is responsible for the Asian investment portfolio spanning across South and South-East Asia and China. Anubha Shrivastava commenced her private equity career in 1999 with General Motors Asset Management's Private Equity Group in New York, USA. She was involved in the global private equity fund-of-funds portfolio as well as the global co-investment program. Thereafter she worked at Performance Equity Management, LLC, where she was responsible for managing the European fund-of-funds and co-investment portfolios.
Anubha Shrivastava started her career in Arthur Andersen and went on to work with Hambrecht & Quist, USA prior to joining General Motors Asset Management.
DOUGLAS CLAYTON
CEO, Leopard Capital
Douglas Clayton is the Founding Partner of Leopard Capital, an early investor in overlooked frontiers. In the depths of the 2008 global financial crisis Leopard raised Cambodia's first private equity fund, which has since made ten investments with two exits. The Group is now expanding into Laos, Bangladesh, and Haiti.
Douglas has worked and invested in emerging markets for 25 years, earlier as a managing director at Abacus Equity Partners, CLSA, and Indosuez WI Carr. He currently resides in Phnom Penh where he serves as Advisor to the Director-General of the Securities & Exchange Commission of Cambodia, and Trustee of the non-profit Center for Khmer Studies. Douglas holds a Master of Management from Thailand's Chulalongkorn University, and a Bachelor of Arts in history from Cornell University.
TAKESHI KIRIYAMA
CEO, Development Bank Of Japan (DBJ) Europe
Currently CEO of DBJ (Europe), Takeshi Kiriyama joined the Development Bank of Japan (DBJ) after graduating from the University of Tokyo. He subsequently obtained an MBA at UCLA and a Master's degree in Arts Management at Keio University. Also, he is certified by the Japanese government as a management consultant for SMEs.
After being involved in a variety of international loans and M&A assignments in Tokyo, London, etc., Mr Kiriyama as a founding manager of DBJ was placed in charge of funds for corporate turnaround. In line with the Japanese government's initiative to create a market for turnaround funds, he invested in various private funds which were specially designed for this purpose. He also actively participated in the turnaround of several investee companies as a non-executive director.
In 2008, Mr Kiriyama was assigned responsibility for establishing a UK subsidiary which would serve as a springboard for the DBJ Group. The objective of this subsidiary was to provide loans and investment and conduct M&A advisory services for a broad range of client needs throughout Europe. As a result, DBJ Europe Limited was established in the City of London in November 2009 with Mr Kiriyama as its CEO.
A topical footnote resides in the fact that Mr Kiriyama personally experienced the devastating Kobe earthquake which occurred in 1995. After this disaster, he remained in the area acting as one of the key figures of DBJ in aiding recovery by financing reconstruction of the railways and infrastructure.

DAVID SUNG-WON SONG
Head of Samsung UK
Since February 2010, Mr David SW Song has been Managing Director of Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland. He oversees all activities surrounding a broad portfolio of devices including, mobile, TV's, blu-ray players, white goods, notebooks, monitors, print and cameras. In addition he has overseen several high profile launches and campaigns in the UK including Samsung's award winning LED 3D TV and Galaxy S phone.
Prior to becoming Managing Director of Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland, Mr Song was part of the Corporate Management Team in the Chairman's office, Samsung Group, Seoul, Korea from 2007 to 2010.
He has also held a number of other strategic roles including VP, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Electronics, Europe, from 2001 to 2007, during his 25 year career with Samsung.
Mr Song holds a BA in Industrial Engineering from Kon Kuk University in Seoul, South Korea.
PROF. JULIAN BIRKINSHAW
Professor of Strategic and International Management, London Business School
Julian Birkinshaw is Professor of Strategic and International Management at the London Business School. He has written eleven books, the most recent being “Reinventing Management” which has been called a “must read for any manager who wants to make their organisation fit for the future.”
In 1998 the leading British Management magazine Management Today profiled Professor Birkinshaw as one of six of the “Next Generation of Management Gurus”. He is regularly quoted in international media outlets, including CNN, BBC, The Economist, the Wall Street Journal, and The Times. He speaks regularly at business conferences in the UK, Europe, North America and Australia. He is a consultant to many large companies, including Novo Nordisk, the Guardian Media Group, UBS, and Rio Tinto.
Prof Birkinshaw is co-founder with bestselling author Gary Hamel of the Management Innovation Lab (MLab), a unique partnership between academia and business that is seeking to accelerate the evolution of management.
DAVY HWANG
Vice President, R&D, Medical Devices and Diagnostics Asia Pacific, Johnson & Johnson
Presently, Davy Hwang is Vice President for Johnson & Johnson's Medical Device and Diagnostics sector in Asia Pacific, leading the creation of a cross-functional Product Development capability. The function is focused on being a source of innovation for emerging markets and for addressing the unique needs of Asia Pacific patients.
Davy joined J&J in 2010, coming from General Electric where he held a series of positions at GE Healthcare focused on driving growth and innovation in emerging markets. He most recently served as General Manager for the Value Segment of GE Healthcare's Global X-Ray and Diagnostic Cardiology businesses with buildup of engineering teams in China and India, resulting in the development and launch of the portable ECG devices. His first global assignment in China was in 1993, where he was the Technical Operations Manager of the pioneering joint venture GE Hangwei with the Chinese government to develop a value Computed Tomography system.
Davy began his career at General Electric in 1983 and progressed through various manufacturing, finance, engineering program management positions. In 1999 to 2002, he joined a Johnson & Johnson company, Ethicon as Director of Manufacturing/Process Engineering before returning to GE.
Davy holds dual bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He currently resides in Shanghai, China with his wife and three sons.
COSMO TAKAMATSU
Partner, Booz & Company
Cosmo Takamatsu specializes in business and operations strategies for the manufacturing, consumer, and retail industries, with particular focus on the automotive, automotive parts, semiconductor, and beverage sectors. He has extensive experiences in global projects executed in the U.S., Europe, Korea, Singapore, and China. He has been based in Tokyo since 1991.
Before joining Booz & Company, Cosmo was Chief Operating Officer with Scient Japan and a researcher at Mitsubishi Research Institute. He received his bachelors of engineering from University of Tokyo and also holds a master of science in management from the Sloan School at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
PAUL LEE
Global Director, Deloitte Research, Technology, Media and Telecommunications
Paul LeePaul Lee is responsible for technology, media and telecommunications research at Deloitte.
In this role Paul has authored over 70 TMT reports including Deloitte's annual Predictions for the Technology, Media and Telecommunications series. In 2011 Predictions was launched in over 70 countries.
Paul also founded the Deloitte Global Mobile Consumer Survey, which in its inaugural year included data from 17 countries and over 34,000 individual responses.
Paul is also author of the annual state of the industry report for the Media Guardian Television Festival, first published in 2007.
Paul has published over 30 columns in the Financial Times, specialising in analysis of current trends in the TMT sector from a numerical perspective. Paul is a frequent commentator on television, press and the radio.
Paul has spoken at numerous industry conferences and was on the organising committees of the Royal Television Society's Cambridge and London conferences.
Paul has written five books, including Convergence Conversations and Digital Dilemmas.
Prior to Deloitte Research, Paul was Director, Gartner Consulting, leading work in the telecommunications sector.
